1) Phone Scams
Reported cases of phone scams are on the rise as tricksters are coming up with new and innovative scams (eg. kidnap, lottery) to convince victims to part with their money. Please click here for useful information to help you identify some common scams and avoid falling prey to fraudsters.

2) Phishing Alerts
There has been many phishing emails received by HSBC customers recently. Typically, these spoofed emails request the recipients to follow a hyperlink to provide logon credentials, security codes and contact details. This kind of email may target any financial company including HSBC.

Please remember:
- HSBC will never include a hyperlink in our email that will lead our customers to a login page or a website that directly solicits such confidential information
- HSBC will never ask for our customers' passwords, PINs or security codes over the email, phone or in person
- Ignore and delete the email, do not respond to sender.

3)Phone Alert
Please be reminded that when you call us, you may be asked to input your Password or PIN for authentication. However, do not speak out the Password, PIN or security code during the call, as no call centre representative will ever ask for this over the phone. If you have forgotten your Password or PIN, a few questions relating to your personal information, NOT your Passwords or PIN, will be asked for authentication.

4)Spyware
Is Spyware hiding in your PC? This software might transmit your information to unauthorised parties without your consent.

 New Regulations on Wire Transfers effective from 1 July 2007

Under new rules introduced by the Monetary Authority of Singapore in relation to the prevention of money laundering and the countering of terrorist financing, wire transfer messages relating to certain wire transfers initiated by any bank in Singapore on behalf of a customer must with effect from 1 July 2007, include certain prescribed information including, in addition to the customer's name and account number, their address or their unique identification number or their date and place of birth.

In response to these rules, from the 1 July 2007 all wire transfer messages relating to wire transfers effected on behalf of our customers will include the customer's name, account number and address held in our records. By initiating a wire transfer through the Bank, a customer will be deemed to have consented to the inclusion of these or any alternative details referred to in the new rules in the wire transfer message.
